Daisey (formerly Felicity)

Daisey was adopted from the DeWitt County Animal Shelter in January of 2009 by Teri and her kids Gracie and Thomas. We're told that Daisey is a very lazy cat who sleeps most of the day. She lover her human brother and sister and tolerates all the love that they give her! We're glad to see Daisey is so well loved now!

Dawson (formerly Binks)

"Binks" now "Dawson" was recently adopted from Second Chance For Pets when he was 8 weeks old. He was a cute little guy and now he is growing into a very Handsome young boy. He is doing wonderful in his new home and brings much joy to his new family.

Eddy (formerly Comet)

written by Eddy's adopters, Linda and Roger Beanland

EddyUpdated September 2010: Just wanted to send you a couple pics of Eddy now.  He won't sit still long enough to snap pics most the time.  He seems to be in constant motion, haha!  Roger has my camera packed away with his hunting stuff, so this is on my cell phone and it doesn't do a very good job, but I wanted you to see how big the boy is getting.  We have only had him a little over 2 months now and seems like he has always been here.  He still gives a lot of kisses and loves to play and stalk us.  He is also a "shoulder sitter" loves being carried around that way. He also likes the basement, Roger calls it "Eddy's apartment" since he is down there alot....he has chairs he naps in and carpet to play on and his kitty box, what more would a kitty want for a play area? As soon as he hears anyone walking around in the kitchen, he is up the steps wanting more wet food, he always has dry food left out.  I have figured out that he is part ferret, he grabs things and takes them down the basement...that is where I look if I am missing anything.  He is still very  people friendly, don't think he has found anyone he doesn't like....we did notice when we got the green hoses out for the watering, that he shies away from the patio door, I wonder if he might have had a run in with a snake when he was out by himself???  He always walks over very carefully to the door and looks around to see if the "snake" is out there... he has not tried to get outside, I think he is just happy to be in the house, "his house".  Well, will get this sent off, hope all is going good for you up there!

"After losing our Blue Kitty of almost 17 years, we were not sure about getting another animal, but I knew Blue would not want us to be sad. When we came up to your place, we were looking for Siamese kittens and were almost ready to get two you had when ED reached out and kept touching Roger from a bottom cage...ha! Once Roger pulled him out, I think the bonding started. Eddie is very much loved. He has the run of upstairs and downstairs and is running the house. I think he thinks if we are in the kitchen, the "buffet" is open, well that is what Roger calls it. He is eating well and running all over and sleeps all night with us.  He is very gentle and if he thinks he nibbled too hard you get a lick afterwards. He also is giving me "kisses" on my chin and cheeks along with hugs around the neck, a lot. He likes to take naps and plays hard, because that is what kitties DO!  He is very relaxed and at home now, doesn't want to even go by the door, and loves his new Mom and Dad....we consider him an addition to the family and not a replacement. Nothing could ever replace our Blue Kitty, but Eddie has brought life and happiness back into our house. I only hope that others will take the time to look in the shelters for companions as we did, there are so many animals that will be very grateful for a new home."

Faith (formerly Tess)

FaithFaith was originally named "Tess" at the DeWitt County Shelter. She was adopted by Lori in 2006. Although she was a little shy at first, she came out of her shell quickly and enjoys sleeping on her peoples' bed and being held and snuggled!

Gunn (formerly Evie) and Onyx

We have really enjoyed "Gunn" (formerly "Evie") and her brother "Onyx" since adopting them at the beginning of August '12.  They both have distinct personalities, are very playful, and have already given us a lot of fun.  Best of all, they have made friends with our 3-year-old son and spend lots of time with him.  Thank you so much.  We are very grateful to have a pair of such lovely cats as part of the family.

Kia

Kia was a porch cat for about a year before being adopted. She's now fat and sassy and living the good life with her adopter, Karen!

Molly (formerly Duchess)

Molly"Just wanted to send you a picture of Molly and let you know she seems to be settling in pretty well. She's explored the whole house numerous times and has picked out a few favorite spots. She's getting plenty of exercise - she really likes to run the full length of the house in the mornings and right when we are thinking of going to bed. She loves her mouse and ball, but not her bed or little tent/cottage we bought for her. Oh well. We're having a lot of fun with her. She still likes to play with my hair, but not as much as she did at the shelter. The vet did say she was a little over weight, so hopefully all that running will slim her down a little. Take care."

Nutmeg, Pepper, and Sage

These 3 girls were adopted to the same wonderful home. They are living the life with all the wonderful toys and beds to sleep and play on. They are now the "Spice Girls": "Pepper," "Sage," and "Nutmeg."

Peanut

PeanutPeanut (the black cat) was adopted from the DeWitt County Animal Shelter. He came to the shelter with a broken tail and has since had it amputated. His owner, Debbie, says that he's a very sweet cat that loves his foster brother, Hemingway (pictured).

Precious

Precious"Here is a picture of Precious that we adopted from DeWitt County in March of 2011.  She is doing great.  I think she has doubled her size and fits in very well with the family, even our other cat Wilma."

Riley catUpdates on Riley the cat coming soon!

Scooby Doo and Shaggy

"My family and I just wanted to send you an updated picture of the two male cats we adopted from your shelter in August of 2008.  Frank, Connie, Janna and Katerina Borth adopted the Tweedle brothers from your shelter.  We have since renamed them.  Their names are Scooby Doo & Shaggy.  They still look exactly alike, except Shaggy has developed white whiskers on his cheeks and eyebrows.  I am attaching some current pictures of the boys.  They have fit in very well at our house with our dogs.  They think that they are a dog a lot of the time.  They have attached themselves very well to Katerina and are sociable with the rest of the family and my three nieces.  Thank you for giving us the opportunity to save bring the Tweedle brothers into our lives.  They have been a great joy!  We recently had to put to sleep our other 14 year old cat.  His name was Mouse and he was a butterscotch morris male.  He was a big part of my father's life.  We miss him greatly."

Smith and Wesson (formerly Butters and Butterscotch)

written by Smith and Wesson aunty Kayla (Oliver's adopter)

A few weeks before Halloween, our favorite cat passed away. Since it was my little brother's cat, my parents decided to let him pick out a new kitten. We decided to bring two new kittens home, so my brother and I went to the shelter and picked out two adorable little kittens. We convinced my dad that we needed a two-for-one deal! They are almost identical in appearance, so we had to get collars to tell them apart! They were Butters and Butterscotch at the shelter. Their names are now Smith and Wesson. Wesson wears the red collar. They are awesome little kitties. They both have distinct personalities. Smith is energetic and sweet. He likes to sit on my lap while I am on the computer. Wesson is a little piggy! He eats almost anything, and even tries to steal our dog's food. As is tradition in my family, the kittens now have silly nicknames. Smith is Smitty Witty Werben Man Jenson (Smitty for short) and Wesson is just Wessy. They get along famously with our other male cat Zim, although our two female cats are a bit lukewarm about having two new kittens in the house. Smitty and Wessy are definitely here to stay!

Spencer (formerly PitterPat)

SpencerHere is a picture of "PitterPat" better known as Spencer. He is the coolest cat. I'm so glad he found us.

Thanks, The Watchinskis

Steve

SteveWe kept Steve's name and he was really shy at first. It took him a couple of days before he was able to come upstairs from the basement, now he spends almost all of his time on the base level and sometimes even ventures upstairs. He still can be somewhat skittish if you're walking near him and feels the need to run a few feet away to watch from a distance but there have been times when we've been able to walk by him and he just kind of watches us. It's always nice to see him make progress. Mystic was renamed Kouichi (ke-wee-chi) as he is my sister's cat and she is super into anime. He automatically fit right in and began doing everything like our other cats. He plays with them and loves cuddling up with both them and us. Both cats are wonderful and if you're sitting down Steve will do anything for attention and he loves to give "hugs"! They are fantastic new members of our family and we all love them!

Tinley

Tony and Tippy

Tony and TippyTony was adopted first by Tracy & Steve of Champaign, IL. Several months later they decided Tony needed a buddy and adopted Tippy from us. Tony and Tippy now live with their parents, their human sister Katie, and her little brother James. Tony and Tippy are the best of friends!

Umphrey

My boyfriend and I adopted Umphrey the end of August 2012. He is now around 4 months old. He has the best personality. His favorite things to do are sleep on our laps, play with his toys, play with his friend Jetta and looking out the front room window. He is always full of energy and loves to play. We love having him as our pet and enjoy spoiling him and making him happy. Second Chance For Pets on behalf of Dewitt County Animal Shelter contacted me very shortly after I sent in the application and were very helpful and nice along the way. Thanks so much!

Wes

WesWes is doing very well. He made himself at home the very first night. He is already a different cat.- Definitely no longer a lounger! He streaks up and down the steps at top speed and from room to room sometimes skidding sideways on the tile floor into a wall. He seems to be enjoying his new found freedom to run! :) He gets along with our Boxer, Scooby, as if they had grown up together. We are thankful we happened across Wes (Big Boy) on your web site. Thank you.  Michelle and family.

Zoey (formerly Zelda)

written by Zoey's adopters, Scott and Andrea K.

Zoey"Zelda is now called Zoey.  Zoey is doing wonderful; she took to her new name and her new sister Teala right away.  It took Teala a bit longer to get used to Zoey, but they get along just fine now.  Zoey can be ornery on occassion, but we love that about her.  She has gained several pounds, and her fur is very soft and full now.  Everyone, including her vet, loves her big bright orange eyes. Zoey loves to drink from our bathroom sink for some odd reason, but we think it's cute so we try to help her do that as much as possible.  Oddly, Zoey does a lot of the same things that Tanner did when he was still here. Tanner passed away due to kidney failure.  We miss him dearly and we love the fact that Zoey does similar things.  Zoey took to everyone pretty well but she seems to be attached to me more over Andrea (my wife) and Skylar (my 10 yr old daughter) for some reason. She like to lay on my chest while I am watching tv.  We are very glad to have her; she is a huge part of our family now. Hope you enjoy the attached pictures."
